Union Press: Issue Three
Brad Hill and I just finished issue three of our collaborative BMX newspaper zine Union Press. I can truly say that it's my favourite issue so far, and I feel like we were able to cover a range of people and topics, while having the most contributors in an issue yet. As always you can get this for FREE from better bike shops across Canada as it is generously supported and distributed by Ten Pack Distribution and 1664 Distribution. If you do not have a local bike shop, or live outside of Canada, you can order a copy for the price of postage here. Check out a list of contents from issue three below and a number of photos from its pages after the jump.
- Dagg's Kitchen: Cooking tips and a recipe from the mind and kitchen of Nick Dagg
- Team Manager Tales: A story from Harley Haskett about his best trip ever
- Build and Create: An interview with skatepark builder and bike rider Kean Fougere
- A profile of Niagara area flatlander Smoother
- Photos from Jeremy Deme, Charlie Crumlish, Trent Barker, Jason Vawter, Brad Hill, and Prashant Gopal
- Fold out posters from MacNeil Bikes, Verde Bikes, 1664, and BMXFU

Working Not Slacking
No updates in a couple months, but things have not been slack around here. Have had my hand in all sorts of projects lately, but most importantly I've been busy finishing Union Press 2 and a third pizza mini zine, and hopefully more stickers. Stay tuned, details coming soon.

Dick Jokes 1.1
My friend Zach, aka Tankass, sent me the first issue of his new zine Dick Jokes. It is a wonderfully done black and white zine (and he recently came in to the possession of some coloured paper, so bright covers seem to be infiltrating - Yo Sick approves of this) full of photos of bike rides, his local motorcycle gang, skateboarding, and photos he shot of his friends that he's been developing in his basement. It radiates the same honesty and enthusiasm that Tank has as soon as you meet him, and seems to be created with the same motivation that Yo Sick is, to share things he likes with his friends. Check out his site and hit him up to get a copy.
Check out that colour spectrum!
He sent me this print of a photo of some pizzas that appears in the zine, except he laid a Yo Sick sticker over the top of it when he was developing it, or something like that. I'm not really sure how photo developing occurs. I just give a roll to the wizard's at the lab and let them perform their sorcery.

Tumblr
Apparently some of my work has been circulating around Tumblr uncredited, so I thought why not dive in to yet another online communication tool for a print zine. I've set up a Yo Sick Tumblr site where you'll find some of the original drawings, photos, and other randomness from past and future zines pop up. Feel free to follow me.

Blacken
I had the pleasure of meeting Darryl Nau this past weekend. The man is the real deal, and 100% genuine. He gives off so much positive energy that it is infectious and you can't help but feel happier than you did before you met him. I showed him my friend's old Blacken t-shirt and he signed it in the shape of a hot dog. I can't think of anything more fitting. If you aren't familiar with Darryl, then watch a little bit of his Day in the Life bio below.
